Kolkata, Sept 07: CBI director P C Sharma today said the agency, investigating into the murder of poetess Madhumita Shukla, was yet to receive the DNA test report of her foetus and blood sample of former BSP minister Amarmani Tripathi.
"We have not received the DNA test report so far. We are waiting for that," Sharma said when asked to comment on recent media reports that DNA test of the six-month-old foetus of the slain poetess had matched with that of the former minister's blood sample.
Stating that the DNA test report would be a "very important" and vital evidence in the case, he said, "Everyday we are contacting the Hyderabad laboratory and we expect to get the report by another three-four days".
Sharma said the agency has already questioned Tripathi and his wife Madhumani in connection with the case but "will not disclose the outcome of our interrogation at this stage of investigation".
"We also have got some letters, diary and other evidences. But the most important will be what the DNA report says," he added.
Madhumita, who was shot dead by assailants at her Lucknow residence in May, was reportedly close to Tripathi. The murder created an uproar in Uttar Pradesh leading to the unceremonious exit of Tripathi from the cabinet of the then Chief Minister Mayawati.
