New Delhi, Feb 17: Government today notified revised jurisdiction of 23 railway divisions and fixed jurisdiction of eight newly created divisions with immediate effect. The notification issued by the ministry of railways seeks to modify the original notification of July 4, 2002 under which seven new zones were created by carving them out of the existing nine zonal railways.
Of these, two new zones, east central railway at Hajipur and north western railway at Jaipur have become fully functional with effect from October 1 last year and the remaining five will become functional from April 1 this year.
While jurisdiction of the newly created divisions -- Nanded, Agra, Guntur, Raipur, Ranchi, Pune, Rangla and Ahmedabad -- has been fixed, the area of jurisdiction of the 23 existing divisions including those of Hubli, Guntakal and Jhansi have been revised, according to an official release.
As for Jhansi division, the 133 km long Agra-Palwal and 40 kms long Palwal-Tuglakabad routes have been transferred to newly created Agra division.
Jurisdiction of other divisions at Mumbai, Delhi, Jabalpur, Vadodara, Rajkot, Ajmer, Ratlam, Bikaner, Sholapur, Allahabad, Kota, Jaipur, Izatnagar, Vijayawada, Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Bilaspur, Chakradarpur, Adra and Alipurdwar, have also been revised and their area of jurisdiction re-fixed, the release added.
