Army speeds up process of rehabilitation of soldiers, widows
New Delhi, Nov 11: The army has speeded up process of resettlement with top officers saying that the rehabilitation of battle-disabled soldiers and war widows was being done in three to four months time.

"We have launched special schemes for disabled soldiers to stablise them first from trauma and then to resettle them,” Major General vs Budhwar Director General resettlement at army headquarters here said. His remarks came even as official figures show that there were 12,000 war widows till last year.
Appealing to the public to be more generous in donating to armed forces Flag Day fund falling on December 7, Budhwar said the funds were being utilized to resettle the disabled soldiers and to give new life to war widows.
His appeal comes in the wake of reports that there has been some downward trend in collections after they peaked to new high post ‘Operation Vijay’.
Budhwar told newsmen that the private sector, particularly corporate houses, were showing new initiatives in giving sale agencies to war wounded and disabled soldiers specially in rural areas.
Corproates like ONGC, Reliance, Samsung, Kelvinator, Hyundi, IOC and others are now offering agencies and outlets to the disabled soldiers, he said citing that Reliance Group had last year absorbed 3,000 ex-servicemen with another 12,000 being absorbed by mushrooming security agencies.
