Surat, Aug 20: Police have registered a complaint against the son of Daman MP and seven others in an alleged case of extortion. Bimal Agrawal, a businessman residing at Malad in Mumbai and owning a plastic manufacutring unit at Daman, has alleged that Congress MP Dahyabhai Patel's son Ketan and seven others had demanded Rs two lakh from him and threatened him of dire consequences if he failed to pay, Daman Police sources said here today.
Agrawal also alleged that Ketan and his accomplices, including Daman Municipality president Vishal Tandel, `forcibly' took away plastic material worth Rs 27 lakh from his manufacturing unit. Agrawal and Ketan were business partners earlier and following some financial dispute, they had separated.
Ketan had recently been elected as the president of the Daman Industrial Association. However, Ketan said that the complaint was "politically motivated" by some people, who are not very pleased since he has been elected as the president of association. Bureau Report
