New Delhi, Aug 05: Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda today met prime minister atal bihari vajpayee here and apprised him of various development schemes in the state. He is also understood to have urged Vajpayee to take up new projects in the tribal area which has rich mineral and other natural resources, state government sources said.

Munda is believed to have apprised the Prime Minister of the underground fire in Jharia coalfields which was creating major problems for the local residents and the plight of a large number of workers of the sick heavy engineering corporation at Ranchi.

During his current stay in the capital, he met health and family welfare minister Sushma Swaraj, human resource development minister Murli Manohar Joshi and tourism and culture minister Jagmohan to discuss various matters related to his state.

The Chief Minister, who has convened a meeting of his cabinet here to discuss the Koel-Karo Hydel Project and other development schemes, had yesterday called on President A P J Abdul Kalam and invited him to visit Jharkhand.
Munda has asked his cabinet colleagues to take up pending projects with their respective ministries at the Centre and expedite their clearance for speedy development of the state.
