Nyon, Nov 21: European soccer's governing body said today it needed more time to decide what action to take over racist chanting and crowd trouble during a match between Slovakia and England. UEFA's disciplinary panel postponed until Dec. 17 a decision on sanctions against the English and Slovakian Football Associations and decided to appoint an inspector to further investigate what happened at the two nations' Euro 2004 qualifier last month.
The inspector will report back to the panel in time for the December meeting, said UEFA spokesman Mike Lee.
"They have mandated a disciplinary inspector to conduct further investigations, in particular into the lack of organization by the Slovakian Fa," Lee said.

At the Oct. 12 match, England players Emile Heskey and Ashley Cole, who are black, were subjected to racist chanting from the Slovak supporters.
Violence erupted at one end of the stadium just before halftime, with baton-wielding Slovak police fighting with the thousands of English followers packed into the stands.
England won the match 2-1.
Uefa is trying to decide whether English fans who clashed with riot police in Bratislava were simply violent thugs or whether they had reacted to the racist chants. Bureau Report
