An absconding director of the crisis-ridden Krushi Urban Co-Operative bank P Ramamurthy was nabbed by a team of CID sleuths at Rajahmundry town on Tuesday night even as a stream of panicky depositors continued to throng other co-operative banks in the city to withdraw their deposits.
Rammurthy, one of the seven directors of the city-based bank facing the charge of swindling depositors` money, was picked up by police from his relative`s house in Rajahmundry and is being produced before the city metropolitan magistrate in Hyderabad later in the day, police said. Speculation is rife that the bank`s chairman Venkateshwar Rao, on the run ever since the scandal broke out early this month, has also been picked up from Amalapuram town in coastal region.
