Patna, June 21: The Bihar government has decided to close down 18 loss-making state corporations and boards and pay one-time financial package as compensation to employees of these Public Sector Undertakings. The decision to this effect was taken by the state cabinet at its meeting, presided by chief minister Rabri Devi, last night, an official release said.

State textile corporation, sugar corporation, agro-industries development corporation, forest development corporation, panchayati raj finance corporation, film development and finance corporation and small industries development corporation were among the 18 PSUs that the cabinet has decided to close down, the release added.

But, the cabinet decided to continue with the remaining 16 boards and corporations including state housing board, finance corporation, mineral development corporation, khadi gramudyog board, tourism development and pollution control board.
In addition to these 16 boards and corporations, five regional development authorities of Patna, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur, Darbhanga and Gaya will continue to function, the release said.
