The Congress ministry headed by N Rangasamy on Wednesday won the confidence vote in the 30-member territorial assembly with 19 members voting in favour.
As soon as the assembly convened, Speaker D Ramachandran asked Rangasamy to table the motion of confidence.
All the members in the treasury side raised their hands in support of the confidence motion. The President of India, in his directive appointing Rangasamy as the Chief Minister of the Union Territory on October 27, had asked him to prove majority of the Government within 30 days of his assuming office.
