An engineer of National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) was abducted by suspected NDFB militants near Indo-Bhutan border in Assam's Kokrajhar district, official sources said on Thursday. The engineer, Amitabh Jha, who was on official duty was coming in a vehicle from Galenphung in Bhutan along with driver and another person when two armed militants stopped the vehicle and boarded the car at Datgiri on Wednesday.

The militants who travelled in the vehicle for two kilometres stopped the car near a jungle and took Jha along with them. They allowed the driver and the third passenger to return to their destination.
