New Delhi, Oct 13: The centre today informed the Supreme Court that it would frame a scheme for Tiruvannamalai Temple in Tamil Nadu on the lines of the Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu and Kashmir for its proper maintenance and management. This was stated by Additional Solicitor General Altaf Ahmed before a bench comprising Justice Y K Sabharwal and Justice B N Agrawal, which granted six weeks time to the centre to file before the court the proposed scheme. In the meantime, it directed the Tiruvannamalai district collector to ensure strict compliance of the apex court's July 22 order putting a ban on construction activities around the 'Girivalam Path' of the temple. A heated debate had started over the management and maintenance of the temple after Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in a preliminary notification took over the management and maintenance of the temple. The Madras High Court had stayed the notification. Bureau Report
