Raipur, Mar 25: Thirteen members of the main opposition BJP were today suspended from Chhattisgarh Assembly when they trooped into the well of the house to protest a statement by a minister and created uproarious scenes leading to the adjournment of the house for 15 minutes. The duration of their suspension would be decided by the Speaker later.


During the Question Hour, Megharam Sahu (BJP) wanted to know why meetings of Shakti municipality were not being held despite written demand by the councillors there.


After several supplementaries, urban development minister Rabindra Choubey said that since the BJP members were "anti-minorities" they wanted to remove one Qureshi from the chairmanship of the municipality.

The Opposition members strongly protested to this and demanded an apology from Choubey.

The BJP members, led by Brij Mohan Agrawal, then rushed to the well of the house.


Amidst uproarious scenes, Speaker Rajendra Prasad Shukla said that suo motu the BJP members are suspended for rushing to the well and adjourned the house till 1 pm.
