Lucknow, Mar 13: The ruling Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh today ruled out any pre-poll alliance with the Congress after the latter threatened to withdraw support in the state. SP General Secretary Amar Singh said the government had a majority in the assembly and would not buckle under pressure from any quarter. Talking to reporters here, he said with yesterday's statement of senior Congress leader Arjun Singh that the party might withdraw support, all roads leading to any alliance had been closed. Claiming that such statements would only benefit the BJP in the state, he said the SP had the capability to prove its strength in the Lok Sabha polls.
Commenting over the statement of former Bihar Chief Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav alleging that Mulayam Singh Yadav was a ''BJP agent,'' Singh said the future political shape would itself prove who was the real agent of the BJP.
