Madurai, June 18: A court here today extended the remand of senior DMK leader M K Azhagiri who had been arrested in connection with the murder of former Tamil Nadu minister T Kiruttinan, to July 7.

When Azhagiri, elder son of DMK chief M Karunanidhi, was brought to the court from Tiruchirapalli prison, the Judicial Magistrate Vanitha extended the remand. There was some
commotion at the entrance to the court as advocates, litigants and media tried to gain entry.
Earlier, police had a tough time controlling the supporters of Azhagiri, who wanted to enter the court hall but police did not allow them.
