Beijing, May 27: China today denied that a Chinese conglomerate had transferred ballistic missile technology to Iran as alleged by Washington and said US sanctions imposed on the firm were "entirely unreasonable". "A comprehensive and strict investigation carried out by the Chinese government has found no evidence that the Chinese company has provided assistance to the missile programmes of Iran," Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue told reporters here. Commenting on a two-year ban imposed by the US State Department on American imports from North China Industries Corporation (NORINCO) because the Chinese firm's alleged "proliferation activities," Zhang said the sanction was "entirely unreasonable." "The United States is imposing its national policies on others, and the implementation of sanctions is entirely unreasonable," she said while denying Washington's charges.

"We have made representations with the United States, expressing our strong dissatisfaction and resolute opposition to the US. We have also made our position clear to the US side," she said.

"The Chinese government is a responsible government. We have adopted a policy of non-proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) and its vehicles. We are opposed to any agencies involved in any kind of proliferation activities by whatever means," Zhang asserted.

She also pointed out that China has "effectively enforced" a law passed last year to curb missile-related exports to other countries.
