Kathmandu, Sept 12: Nepal government today appointed former envoy to India Bhesh Bahadur Thapa roving ambassador of the kingdom. King Gyanendra, at the advice of the council of ministers, appointed Thapa as special representative of Nepal, announced 'Radio Nepal'. Veteran diplomat Thapa, who has just completed his term as the Nepalese ambassador to India, will work as de facto foreign minister of Nepal. Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa has kept the foreign affairs ministry portfolio with himself. Special representative Thapa will advise the Prime Minister on matters relating to foreign affairs, the radio reported.
