Haldwani (Uttaranchal), Oct 04: Encouraged by the offers from both within the country and abroad, state-run National Hydroelectric Power Corporation is set to launch a consultancy service company. "The NHPC board has allowed setting up a new subsidiary company to provide consultancy services both in the country and abroad. It is expected to start functioning from November this year," NHPC chairman and managing director Yogendra Prasad said here.
Prasad said the Rs 10,000 crore NHPC is currently providing consultancy services worth Rs 91 crore while its expertise has been sought by countries like Holland, Vietnam, Algeria, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Nepal and Bhutan.
Talking about Power Finance Corporation, he said its rates are very high and "we prefer other credit sources like LIC, World Bank and JBIC who are giving us loans at a much cheaper rate." Bureau Report
