Imola, Feb 10: The Ferrari team moved on to Mugello, where Barrichello spent Saturday and Sunday (February 7-8) testing the new car for the first time. Despite being Ferrari's second driver, Barrichello has won seven Grands Prix since joining the team in 2000 and each year has helped the team win the constructors' world title.

The Brazilian was hampered by wet conditions at Mugello, but still completed 56 laps of the circuit, his fastest time being 1:26.823.

So far, the Ferrari team are satisfied with the car's progress towards being ready for the start of the season at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on March 7. For the past two seasons, however, Ferrari have not had their new car prepared for the opening race and Barrichello is aware that there is still much work to do before the F2004 car lines up on the grid in Melbourne.

"We have a big task," he said. "We have something that everyone has, bringing in a new car to the first race. That's new to us because for the last couple of years, we haven't been doing that, but I think it's the obvious decision.

"The car looks good, looks quick, we haven't had a big problem so far and I hope we won't have, but it still remains to be seen. We need to put in a lot more miles. Like I say, today it is raining, you have to do the double in the wet to create a situation where you have the dry situation in terms of reliability. But on the rest, the car seems quite good, we've had 30 laps so far with no problems."
