A group of 37 Sri Lankans who tried to illegally immigrate to Australia arrived in Colombo Wednesday after being deported from there, airport officials said. The Sri Lankans arrived by a chartered flight and were detained at the airport for questioning, said the officials, who cannot be named under standing briefing regulations.

The deportation came days after a government coalition won the Australian election partly due to its immigration policy.

Most of the deportees are Tamils. Bureau Report
