Jammu, June 04: Three militants, including an 'area commander' of Lashker-e-Toiba (LET) and an army jawan were killed and three securitymen injured in two separate incidents in Rajouri and Poonch districts of Jammu division since last evening, official sources said today.
The area commander of LET, identified as Abu Hamza, was killed in an encounter with security forces at Bagla village in Kalakote area of Rajouri district last evening, they said, adding his associates managed to flee and also took away the weapons of their slain colleague. Later during the search, security forces recovered one hand grenade and an identity card from the slain militant.
In another encounter, two militants and one jawan, identified as Gurtaj Singh, were killed at Hari Safeda area in Surankote Tehsil of Poonch district this morning. Three jawans, including one Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) Balbir Singh, were also injured in the encounter, they said, adding the injured were rushed to hospital.

Some arms and ammunition have also been recovered from the slain militants, whose identity is being ascertained.

The operation was continuing in the area when reports last came in, the sources said.

Security forces also recovered one pistol with a magazine, 218 rounds of ak ammunition, two ubgl grenades and two handgrenades, during search operation at Chikakhet area in Kalakote Tehsil of Rajouri district, they added. Bureau report
