Coimbatore, July 28: 'Nakkeeran' editor R R Gopal was today produced before the judicial magistrate court at Sathyamangalam in connection with the murder of a police informer, allegedly by forest brigand Veerappan. Gopal, who was brought here from Chennai last night, was taken to Sathyamangalam early today and produced before Magistrate Devanathan who posted the case for August 11, police said.
He was brought back to the central prison here in the afternoon, they said.

Gopal was named as an accused in the murder of one Rajamani, said to be a police informer, who was found murdered in Sathyamangalam forests in 1998.

Gopal, a Pota detenue, was likely to be lodged in the jail here since he was to be produced before a Bhavani court on July 30 in connection with the murder of one Kandavel and again at a Coimbatore court on august one in a case related to the murder of one bhaktavatchalam, whose body was found in Sathyamangalam forest, reportedly done to death by Veerappan, police added.
