New Delhi, July 15: Glowing tributes were today paid to former RSS chief Prof Rajendra Singh popularly known as Rajju Bhaiya at the BJP headquarters led by Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani alongwith party president M Venkaiah Naidu and senior party leaders Kushabhau Thakre and K Jana Krishnamurthy. "His death is the end of an era and a vaccuum has been created which would be difficult to fill for a long time," said Advani of the 81-year old Rajju Bhaiya who died in Pune yesterday.

Advani said that the RSS chief was a person who always viewed all events with an objective mind and had clear opinion on every issue.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that it was Rajju Bhaiya`s dedication and hard work that enabled the Sangh to be built up and expand itself.

"It was his hard work that helped the Sangh Parivar to have a strong foundation in Uttar Pradesh which had also produced some top leaders like Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Nanaji Deshmukh, Pandit Deen Dayal Updhayaya and Bhaurao Deoras," he said.

Naidu said that the death of Singh was a "great loss to the nationalist movement."

"Rajju Bhaiyya was a great nationalist, soft-spoken and most affectionate person. His word used to be final to all the people in the nationalist organisations. He was a great intellectual, dynamic and he had close contacts with national leaders of different political parties and with leaders of different sections in the society," he added.
