DMK on Tuesday accused the Election Commission of conducting a cursory inquiry into allegations of registration of bogus voters in Andipatti from where AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa is seeking election to Tamil Nadu assembly.
"Though the EC though had taken the survey in Saidapet and Vaniyambadi where the polls were countermanded for registration of bogus voters, the exercise was done by the commission in a cursory manner in Andipatti," senior advocate P N Lekhi, appearing for DMK candidate Vaigai Sekar, submitted before justice Manmohan Sarin of the Delhi High Court.
Sekar in a petition has sought deferring of the election scheduled for February 24, alleging that names of about 17,000 bovus voters including hundreds of minors, had been registered in the electoral rolls in the constituency with the active connivance of administration to facilitate Jayalalithaa's smooth election.
