Medical board asked to file report on Bharat Shah`s health
A special court on Wednesday directed the Medical Board headed by dean of government-owned J J Hospital to file a report on September 20 stating how long Bharat Shah, film financier and accused in Bollywood-underworld nexus case, would continue to undertake treatment at Lilavati hospital, where he is an indoor patient since July 10.
Shah is facing charge of allegedly developing links with Pakistan-based gangster Chhota Shakeel to target Bollywood personalities for personal gains. Police claim to have recorded telephonic talks between him and the gangster.
In a related development, designated judge A P Bhangale disposed of a complaint filed by police alleging that Shah had celebrated his birthday in the canteen of Lilavati hospital last month.
The complaint was disposed of after cardiologist Hemant Shah appeared in person and tendered an apology stating that he had only allowed Shah to go on a wheel chair to the temple on the ground floor of the hospital to offer prayers on his birthday. The doctor denied that Shah had given a birthday bash and said he had no intention to flout court orders. The judge extended the judicial remand of Shah and two co-accused Nasim Rizvi and Abdul Rahim Allah Baksh. Rizvi and Abdul Rahim were brought from jail and produced before the court. Shah, however, continues to be in Lilavati Hospital.
The judge ordered Medical Board to give its opinion on Shah's health and inform the court when he would be discharged from the hospital.
Prosecutor Rohini Salian objected to Shah's treatment at Lilavati Hospital as he was its trustee.
