New Delhi, Oct 18: Lawyers lower courts here called off their strike today after an assurance by the police that it would withdraw the fir registered against some advocates who were allegedly involved in a scuffle with the cops at the Tis Hazari court complex on Wednesday.
"We decided to call off our strike as the police assured us that the case registered against the lawyers would be withdrawn after completion of investigation," Delhi Bar Association Secretary Jatan Singh said.
The New Delhi Bar Association (NDBA) which were also on strike in solidarity with DBA also called off their token strike.
Meanwhile, normal work in the lower courts remained paralysed with only some urgent matters taken for hearing.


The lawyers had gone on strike to protest against the alleged high-handedness of police for registering an fir against some of their colleagues who had an alteraction with the cops at Tis Hazari court complex on Wednesday over parking of a police van in the complex.
In the scuffle, some lawyers and policemen had sustained minor injuries. Both sides blamed each other for the incident and an fir was registered against both the parties.
