Mumbai, Nov 03: Riding on the back of Afro-Asian Games glory, Wimbledon girls doubles champion Sania Mirza will be aiming to repeat her all conquering performance on the professional circuit when she plays in the 25,000-dollar ITF women's circuit event starting here today.
After winning the four golds in the tennis events she competed at the intercontinental event's inaugural edition at her home city of Hyderabad last week, it will be back to business for Sania with her first home assignment since becoming the first Indian girl to win a grand slam title.
Sania, who turns 17 later this month, should expect tougher competition at the NSCI courts than what she faced at the games, although there are 19 Indians -- including seven qualifiers -- in the 32-size draw due to late withdrawals.
That Sania, winner of six ITF titles and ranked 396 on WTA computer, is the seventh seed proves the point. She takes on Liza Pereira in the opening round but, being in the top half of the draw, runs into the top seed Shiho Hisamatsu of Japan in the quarterfinal.
The teenager had declared she would be playing only senior events next season and would be training under renowned coach Bob Brett in Italy later this year.

A good performance here would go a long way in consolidating her Wimbledon title.
