New Delhi, June 16: Jammu and Kashmir government has deliberately kept Kashmiri migrants out of the process of summary revision of electoral rolls in the state by not providing them with necessary forms here, a major Kashmiri Pandit organisation has alleged. It asked president, chief election commissioner and state chief election officer (CEO) to look into the matter and extend the deadline of June 18 for submitting the papers.
Claiming that though the state government had fixed June 18 as the last date of the submission of the forms for the summary revision, there were no forms available with the authorities in the national capital, Kashmiri Samiti president Sunil Shakdhar, in the letters written to them, said this "speaks volumes about the faithfulness towards the hapless Kashmiri migrants." He claimed that "it also appears that there is a deliberate attempt on the part of the Jammu and Kashmir government and the CEO, Srinagar to keep the Kashmiri migrants away from the revision in the electoral."
The samiti also demanded the extension of the date upto July 15 and availability of the forms with the concerned authorities. "The move will also affect our returning back to the Valley, which is very crucial for bringing back normalcy in the state," said Shakhdar, who also demanded an inquiry into the matter.
“If there is no place for us in the electoral rolls, how the state government will ensure our participation in other process," he questioned. Bureau Report
