New Delhi, July 18: The BJP has begun the exercise of revamping and strengthening the state units in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan and is looking for new presidents to lead the party in assembly elections slated next year. Sports minister Uma Bharati, tipped to head the Madhya Pradesh unit, is apparently not keen on moving there while another central minister Vasundhare Raje is being considered for Rajasthan with the shifting of former chief minister Bhairon Singh Shekhawat to the capital.

Party president M Venkaiah Naidu has been having series of meetings with leaders from the state units as also with Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani in this regard.

However, party's general secretary and spokesman Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that there was no move to change leadership in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan as of now and any such move would be considered only after reviewing the functioning of the state units. He said as of now the party was only reviewing the functioning of its state units and therefore there was no question of moving any person to a state.

"The party is reviewing the situation in states and discussing how to strengthen them specially in view of the assembly elections due in almost ten states," he said.
