Uttar Pradesh government has sought the advocate general's opinion on issuance of fresh notification for trying three Union ministers and 18 others in the Ayodhya case. "We are getting the judgement (of the high court quashing the earlier notification on February 12) examined by the advocate general and would take an appropriate decision, chief minister Rajnath Singh said in Lucknow on Thursday.
Singh said that the government had received a request from the CBI in this regard and it was also being examined by legal experts. Proceedings against Union ministers L K Advani, Murali Manohar Joshi and Uma Bharti and 18 others were dropped by a special court on May 4 following the high court's order quashing the 1993 notification constituting the court after it was found defective. However, the HC observed that the government could rectify the defect.
The CBI had on June 19 filed a review petition in the high court challenging the special court's order dropping the proceedings against the 21 accused. Bureau Report
