Mumbai, July 28: Film actor Vivek Oberoi was today discharged from Hinduja Hospital, where he was operated for a leg fracture sustained during the shooting of a film in Kolkata, hospital sources said.
From the hospital, Vivek went to his Juhu residence in south Mumbai, the sources said. He was accompanied by his father, actor Suresh Oberoi and other family members.
"Vivek is better now and has started walking with crutches and supports", doctors attending on him said adding that he would have to undergo physiotheraphy sessions at home for some days before resuming work.
Vivek had suffered multiple fractures on his leg after a motorbike skidded and rammed into him during the shooting of Mani Rathnam's film in Kolkata on July 16. He was flown to Mumbai and admitted to the Hinduja Hospital.
Bollywood diva Aishwarya Rai was among the prominent film personalities who called on the injured actor to inquire about his health.
Vivek had developed lung complication due to the fat metabolism during the treatment. He was shifted to ICU after he complained of breathlessness. Dr Sanjay Agarwala, who attended on him, said fat from the bone marrow went into the blood stream and got filtered in the lungs causing a minor complication. "But he came out of it and is better now".
A few days ago, Vivek also issued a statement from the hospital thanking his friends and fans who had expressed concern about his health.
