Colombo, Oct 13: Tamil Tiger rebels will hold
talks in Norway with Foreign Minister Jan Petersen and other
peace brokers before unveiling their power-sharing plan for
Sri Lanka's stalled peace process, the Norwegian embassy here
said today.
A Tiger delegation which met in Ireland with the
rebels' constitutional and legal experts was expected to
travel to Oslo tomorrow on a four-day visit, the embassy said
in a statement.
"In Oslo, the delegation will meet with Norwegian
Foreign Minister Jan Petersen and the Norwegian facilitators
of the peace process in Sri Lanka, as well as with members of
the local Tamil community," the statement said.
It said the tiger delegation would also make a stop
in Denmark.
Tiger rebels are expected to delay announcing their long-awaited power-sharing plan by at least another two weeks despite hopes of an early resumption of peace talks, diplomats said.
They said the Tigers were now hoping to present their plan by the end of October.
The Tiger meeting in Ireland that ended Friday followed a similar conference in Paris in August to prepare a counterproposal to the Colombo government's July 17 offer of limited autonomy in rebel-dominated areas ahead of a final settlement.
