Mumbai, Dec 28: City police commissioner M N Singh today said that witnesses turning hostile in the sensational trial concerning alleged nexus of Bollywood with the underworld, would not have an adverse effect on the prosecution's case.

Speaking to reporters here, he said that police had made several people from Bollywood as witnesses in support of its case in the court of law but unfortunately they did not support the case.
Though witnesses had turned hostile, it had helped in exposing the clandestine relationship shared by some Bollywood personalities with those in the underworld, he said.
The accused facing the trial are film financier Bharat Shah, producer Nasim Rizvi, his assistant Abdul Rahim Allah Baksh and Dubai-based alleged hawala operator Mohammed Shamshuddin alias Bhatija.

Among the 12 witnesses who have turned hostile include Shah Rukh Khan, Rakesh Roshan, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sanjay Gupta, Harish Sughand. Shah Rukh and Roshan denied having received threats from Pakistan-based gangster Chotta Shakeel while and Sughand refuted allegations that they had talked to Shakeel from a hotel in Nasik.
Police have intercepted and recorded more than 20 telephonic talks between Shah, Rizvi and Shakeel which reveal their alleged nexus to target film personalities for financial gains.
