Patna, Oct 16: Gopal Narayan Singh was today elected the new Bihar BJP unit president replacing two-term state party chief Nand Kishore Yadav. The election of Singh (59) as the new state BJP chief was formally declared by returning officer and senior Uttar Pradesh BJP leader Kalraj Mishra at the state council meeting here which was attended by a host of Union ministers and BJP General Secretary Pramod Mahajan. Mishra announced that Singh, a worker of the erstwhile Jansangh and a former MLA, was the lone candidate for the post. According to the party constitution, the tenure of the state party president is for two years and nobody can hold the post for more than two terms. Bureau Report
