New Delhi, Dec 28: RSS chief K S Sudarshan today said that former BJP president Kushabhau Thakre was a person with a "sparkling character, self-effacing personality and affable temperament" who endeared himself to one and all.
"Throughout his life only gave and took nothing" and even though he made ministers, chief ministers and parliamentarians, Thakre never coveted for anything for himself, Sudarshan said.
Thakre died here today following prolonged illness.
"Though he has left he has placed before all of us an example of an ideal Sangh pracharak to emulate. Whatever responsibility was given to him he plunged whole and soul to fulfil it," Sudarshan said.
"He, however, had the satisfaction of seeing a new generation taking over the reigns of government in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh where he had spent a major part of his life. Our heartfelt condolences to the great soul who treading his path himself became a path," the RSS chief said.
Senior RSS leader H V Seshadari said that Thakre worked selflessly without any ill-will or rancour towards anyone and always considered himself to be a 'pracharak'.
He said that the BJP leader, despite his ailment which had made him physically weak, used to frequently visit the RSS headquarters and interact with the 'swayamsevaks'.
