New Delhi, July 17: After a good start on Tuesday, Indian archers slipped on the second day of the 42nd world archery outdoor target championships at New York with the men's team falling back five places and women dropping by one position. The Indian men shot arrows over four distances of 90m, 70m, 50m and 30m and gathered 3899 points to be placed 13th. Korea retained the top slot with 4074 points, according to information available on the official website.

After the competitions over two distances -- 90m and 70m-- on Tuesday India were at appreciable eighth position. Defending champions china were 10th with 3909 points. At the individual level 21st rank holder Satyadev Prasad scored 1317 followed by 49th rank Ved Kumar Acharya with 1294, 61st rank Tarundeep Rai with 1288 and veteran Limba Ram put up a poor show with 1243 points to be placed at 115th position.

In the women's competition held over distances of 70m, 60m, 50m and 30m, India slipped from fourth to fifth position with 3938 points while Korea again emerged leaders with 4081 points and China was second with 4009 points.

Reena Kumari was at 14th position with 1318 points and Dola Banerjee, Swuro Chekrovolu and Bheigyabati Chanu totalled1311, 1309 and 1280 to their individual credits. Bureau Report
