New Delhi, July 06: The Directorate General of Anti-Dumping and Allied Duties (DGAD) has recommended imposition of provisional antidumping duty on imports of methylene chloride from Korea. The amount of duty imposed ranges from 22.96 dollar per metric tonne to 154.8 dollar per metric tonnes.

The DGAD, acting on a petition by Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals, concluded that domestic industry had suffered material injury caused by imports from subject country. Methylene chloride is used in photo films, bulk drugs and pharmaceuticals industries. It is also consumed for manufacture of foam, resin casting, fumigants and agrochemicals and mainly used as paint stripper.
