In a Thanksgiving-themed sketch on the show, Matthew played a grandfather who was engaged in a serious discussion about Syrian refugees, sparking arguments among family members.

However, the bickering ended every time Adele's hit "Hello" was played.

Adele also poked fun at the use of a flip phone in the promos for the show, after she featured one in her music video for "Hello".

Her music was featured in many of the comedy sketches, and she also took to the stage to perform two of her latest hits, "Hello" and "When We Were Young".

Alongside the singer, British actors John Boyega and Daisy Ridley participated in spoof test auditions with celebrities for their movie "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" that were introduced by director JJ Abrams.
