Ahmedabad, Aug 18: The ruling BJP in Gujarat has decided to join hands with the State Government to celebrate the coming Navratri festival on a grand scale in a bid to attract foreign investment to the State.
The party's State unit president, Rajendrasinh Rana, said on Saturday that though the groundwork for the celebrations — from September 25 to October 4 — was being done by the Government, party workers would extend whole-hearted support to make it a success.
Asked whether the Congress would be invited to join, Mr. Rana said he would "invite" all the people in the State to contribute their mite for the festival's success.
The Government would invite non-resident Indians and foreigners. It had also planned to hold a global investors' meet from September 28 to 30 here to promote Gujarat as a safe State for investment.
It had already sent 41 lakh invitations through e-mails to investors in 120 countries.
About the re-constitution of the party panels, he said the reorganisation of the booth-wise committees had already been completed.
The taluka-level panels would be reconstituted by the month-end and the district units by September. The State-level committee would be reconstituted according to the amended party constitution, under which a new president would be elected.
