Delhi cable operators assail proposal on CAS
New Delhi, July 07: Cable operators in Delhi today criticised the PMO for `delay` in implementation of the Conditional Access System (CAS) and said fees for free-to-air channels was very low.
New Delhi, July 07: Cable operators in Delhi today criticised the PMO for "delay" in implementation of the Conditional Access System (CAS) and said fees for free-to-air channels was very low.
At a meeting of the Cable Operators United Front, representing cable operators from all over the country, leading cable operators demanded that the price for FTA channels should be Rs.180 per month per subscriber.
In a memorandum to the officer on special duty in the PMO, Sudheendra Kulkarni, the front demanded that the FTA prices be reconsidered. "We protest the FTA prices which are being considered by government post-CAS. These prices are very low and cannot sustain the working of a cable TV network," the memorandum said. The memorandum was signed among others by the President of the front Virendra Gaur and president of the All India Avishkar Dish Antenna Sangh A K Rastogi. Bureau Report
