Kolkata, June 03: Favouring the induction of its ally Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee in the Union Cabinet, the BJP in West Bengal today said the question of taking her party MP Sudip Bandyopadhyya also into the ministry should not be a hurdle in this regard.
"Trinamool Congress leader Sudip Bandyopadhyya may or may not become a Union minister but that should not stand in the way of Mamata Banerjee becoming a Central minister", state BJP chief Tathagata Roy told reporters here.
Responding to questions on non-inclusion of Mamata and Sudip in the recent Cabinet reshuffle, Roy denied that the BJP central leadership had wanted to have both the Trinamool leaders in the ministry or none.
"The Cabinet reshuffle is entirely the Prime Minister's prerogative and even the central organisation of the party remains away from it", Roy said.
Roy said BJP's alliance with TC in the state would remain intact and both the parties would fight the next Lok Sabha elections jointly.
TC and BJP had forged an electoral alliance in the statewide panchayat elections in West Bengal last month.
