No nominations filed yet for Mizoram polls
Aizawl, Oct 27: No nominations were filed in any of the eight districts of Mizoram on the first of day of filing papers for polls to the 40-member state assembly scheduled to be held on November 20, Chief Electoral Officer Lalmalsawma said today.

A total 798 polling booths would be set up in the state,
he told pti adding he did not receive any information from the
election commission for setting up of polling booths outside
the state.
Some political parties claimed that the EC intended to set up polling stations at Kanchanpur sub-division in north Tripura to facilitate BRU voters now lodged in the refugee camps there to exercise their franchise.
Meanwhile, the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) today announced its official candidates for Lunglei and the undivided Chhimtuipui districts.
Rural Development Minister R Lalthangliana, Food and Civil Supplies Minister C Lalrinsanga and Vice-Chairman of Lunglei High Power Committee Z H Ropuia would contest from their present constituencies -- Lunglei North, Vanva and Tawipui respectively.
Meanwhile, independent MLA H Rammawi, who supported the MNF ministry, today resigned as member of the state legislature and would field his candidature from his Sangau constituency.
Rosik Mohan Chakma, Chief Executive Member of the Chakma Autonomous District Council, would contest from Chawngte constituency and he is the first Chakma to contest as MNF party official candidate.
