New Delhi, Aug 30: Inflation measured by the consumer price index fell to 4.16 per cent in July from 4.41 per cent in June, an official statement said on Friday. In July 2002, consumer price inflation was 3.89 per cent.
Indian inflation measured by the more widely tracked wholesale price index dipped to 3.95 on August 9 due to lower prices of farm products -- from 3.96 per cent a week earlier.
Economists widely track the wholesale price index because of the large basket of commodities it includes and the quick availability of data. Bureau Report
