Mumbai, May 18: The cases of recent bomb blasts in Mulund, Ghatkopar, Vile Parle and Mumbai Central railway station will be clubbed together and a joint trial would be conducted in special court set up under Pota, police sources said here today. All these cases would be clubbed because they relate to the same conspiracy hatched by the banned Simi and Lashkar-e-Toiba to create a series of explosions in Mumbai and elsewhere in the country, said the sources.
About 20 accused were arrested in Mulund and Ghatkopar bomb blasts and an equal number are wanted by police in these cases. The conspiracy was deep-rooted and spread across various states including Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Some arrests may by made in these states as well. In view of the magnitude of the cases, the trial will be clubbed and conducted here in a Pota court. It may last for a couple of years and the chances of the accused getting bail are dim, the sources said.
Former chief of Simi in Maharashtra and prime accused Saquib Nachan was the prize catch for Mumbai police as he spilled the beans and revealed the sinister conspiracy. The seizure of cache of arms from a well in Padgah village near Mumbai and arms training in hills are significant points in the breakthrough in investigations. Bureau Report
