Patni remanded to police custody till Oct 17
Mumbai, Oct 03: Jahid Yusuf Patni, alleged ISI agent and Laskar-e-Toiba operative, was today remanded to police custody till October 17 for his alleged complicity in the July 28 bomb blast at suburban Ghatkopar.

Patni, who also allegedly masterminded the August 25 twin blasts, was arrested yesterday under Pota after he arrived from Dubai. Police questioned him for several hours before arresting him in connection with July 28 Ghatkopar blast.
Twenty-five-year-old Patni was produced in burkha before the designated judge A P Bhangale who perused case diaries before remanding him to custody.
Seeking his custody, prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam said the accused had alleged links with foreign nationals who are suspected to have financed the blasts. He said police needed Patni's custody to determine his role in the conspiracy.
The prosecutor said Patni had met the co-accused in Dubai and conspired with them to engineer the explosions in Mumbai.
Others arrested in this case are Sayed Mohammed Hanif Abdul Rahim, his wife Fahimida, daughter Farheen and Ashrat Shafi Ali Ansari. All of them have been remanded to custody.
In a related development, the court issued contempt notices to editor and reporter of a newspaper for publishing alleged distorted version of court proceedings. They have been asked to appear on October 17.
Two persons were killed and 31 injured when a powerful explosion occurred in a bus in suburban Ghatkopar on July 28. Later two more blasts occurred on august 25 near Gateway of India and Zaveri Bazaar in which 53 people were killed and over 100 injured.
