Bhubaneswar, July 08: A local court today asked a Delhi-based lawyer, seeking interim bail for Dara Singh, to first get the consent of the present panel of lawyers defending Dara and other accused in the graham Staines murder case for representing him. Khurda district AMD sessions judge M N Patnaik told the lawyer V P Sharma - who submitted in the court seeking interim bail for Dara - the prime accused in Staines murder, that his application could be considered only after he obtained the consent of the panel of lawyers presently defending the accused persons in the case for appearing on behalf of Dara.
Arguments in the two year-long trial are scheduled to commence on July 14.
Sharma later told reporters outside the court that he had come to seek Dara's bail on humanitarian ground because his 85-year-old father was critically sick and was admitted into a private hospital at Noida.
Dara's mother had pleaded with the Delhi lawyer to try for her son's release on bail, he said.
