New Delhi, June 27: India defeated Argentina 4-1 in their opening match of the four-nation hockey tournament at Hamburg today. India led 2-0 at half-time.

Dilip Tirkey, Jugraj Singh, Baljeet Singh Dhillon and Gagan Ajit Singh were the goal-scorers for India, according to information received here.

Spain and hosts Germany are the other teams in the competition.
