Israel launched its attack on Syrian soil early yesterday, targetting what it said was a Palestinian militant training base in response to a suicide bombing that killed 19 people, plus the bomber, and wounded at least 50 others.
Deputy Foreign Minister Walid Muallem urged their countries "to denounce the criminal Israeli act and stop Israel committing such acts, which are a dangerous escalation threatening regional and international security," a ministry spokesman said. He also called on them to vote in favour of the Syrian resolution.
Damascus demanded an urgent meeting yesterday of the Security Council after the Israel air attack. The body met for about three hours but adjourned without taking a vote or setting a date for the resumption of the meeting. Bureau Report
