Bangalore, July 20: Pakistani baby girl Noor Fatima today received a message from opposition leader in Lok Sabha Sonia Gandhi who praised her as a "brave girl" and said India and Pakistan should live in peace and friendship.
"You were a very brave girl to have gone through such a difficult operation without making any fuss, and everyone in India admires your courage and cheerfulness," Gandhi said in a letter to Noor, who is recuperating from an open heart surgery at Narayana Hrudayalaya on city outskirts.
Gandhi's letter addressed to two-and-a-half-year old Noor was delivered to her parents Nadeem Sajjad and Tayyaba Nadeem by Congress MP Margaret Alva at the hospital, official sources said.
A pictorial book on India was also given for the child, they said. "We are all praying that you will soon be fully well. Then you can travel and see a bit of India," Gandhi said and asked the little girl for her picture in front of the Taj if she happened to visit Agra.
Noting that the two countries shared many social and cultural traditions, she said, "In many ways, we are like members of one big family and we should live in peace and friendship."
"I hope your mother and father will always regard India as your second home, and will come back here often," she said. Bureau Report
