Surat, June 06: Surendra Shetty, father of actress Shilpa Shetty, was today interrogated by police for six hours for his alleged complicity in an extortion case. In a related development, Shetty's wife and co-accused Sunanda told reporters that they were falsely implicated.

"We are being falsely implicated in this case. However, we are cooperating with Surat police in the investigations. We also have complete trust in the judiciary," she told reporters after spending two hours inside Umra police station here.

Sunanda said she had come here of her own free will after talking to her husband.

Shetty was interrogated for close to six hours but the officials refused to disclose the details.

The couple sped off after Sunanda gave a brief statement before the mediapersons outside the police station.
