The Assam cabinet will be expanded before the state budget session slated in March, chief minister Tarun Gogoi said on Friday.
"We will have cabinet expansion before the budget session which is scheduled in March. It can happen in February end or beginning of March," Gogoi said. He, however, did not elaborate on the size or composition.

Gogoi, who met home minister L K Advani, deputy chairman of planning commission K C Pant and civil aviation minister Shahnawaz Hussain in the last few days, said that the state government had submitted a plan demand to the planning commission.
The plan discussion is likely to be held in New Delhi in March when the state plan size would be finalised. Due to the financial crisis facing the state, Gogoi said his government had sought separate yardstick for Assam and treat it as a special case.
Besides a very low allocation made to the state by the 11th finance commission, he said this was much lower than what had been given to other states and added that the progress in implementation of the ninth plan programmes had also been very slow.
